hi, i'm maliha. among other things, i'm an illustrator and printmaker from karachi, now based in toronto.
i draw people, food, and things from everyday life, plus the stuff swimming around in my head. i like how drawing is a way to play with ideas that are silly or serious (or both). it’s how i slow down, daydream, and learn more about things.
i love making handmade pen & ink drawings. i also work with paint and pencil, lino and drypoint printmaking, digital drawings, and animations, depending on the project. follow along on my instagram.
my book, it’s OK to be sad, was first published by illuminated press in 2022. we launched a second edition in september 2024 in toronto. read about that here. friends around ithaca, we have an event planned in your area for may 2025.
some cool news: my work drawing toronto’s public parks was recently featured in the globe and mail.
in december 2024, i’ll be exhibiting my work at the toronto public library!
my art practice was recently featured in the new anthology coffee table book, menacerie: end of summer.
find my prints and books etc. in toronto at bazaar (306 college street) and savile studio & market (173 roncesvalles ave) and made for me marketplace (1586 dundas st west)
